The Eiffel tower illuminated and seen from below

The Photo of the Week is complements of Guillaume Le Roux of Le Vrai Paris Tours.

Paris is one of those cities that holds the hearts of almost all who get the opportunity to visit it.  After spending my last week in the capital of Panama (Panama City), where you could see everything in more or less a day, Paris seems almost unfathomably more attractive to the sightseer. You could literally spend weeks in Paris just taking in the touristic sights, not to mention the amazing food, nightlife, shopping and hopefully, a little Parisian ooh la la (probably have to speak French for that one)!

If you only have a few days to see all that Paris has to offer, your best bet is going to be a Paris hop on hop off tour that will allow you to get around the city easily and comfortably, but let you spend as much time at all of the famous sites as you desire.

With my more recent feelings of “aging”, I am starting to opt for guides and tours when I travel places.  Yea that might go against the Backpacker’s credo, but I think it just comes down to budget, and if you enjoy going places to learn and experience things on another level, it’s well worth the small investment.

I think I would despise a completely planned itinerary lasting days, but for a day, it’s a nice way to delve into a bit more history and the reasons the things you are seeing are well, worthwhile seeing.

One thing worth paying for a little more knowledge would be for Eiffel tower tours.  Yes of course, you’ve probably seen the Eiffel tower more times than you can count from movies to refrigerator magnets,, but did you know it was built in 1889 and was the tallest building for 41 years until it was surpassed by the Chrysler Building in NYC which still dominates the skyline there…didn’t think so!
