As someone who grew up in Philly and now calls Mexico City home, I’ve been waiting for this one for years. If you’ve ever tried flying between these two cities, you know the struggle—layovers in Houston, Dallas, or Atlanta, plus the unpredictable delays that come with them. But starting June 5, 2025, Aeromexico is making things a whole lot easier with a brand-new nonstop flight between Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) and Aeropuerto Internacional Benito Juárez (MEX). Finally, no more layover roulette!

philadelphia to mexico city direct flight on Aeromexico

A First for Aeromexico in Philly!

This isn’t just a win for those of us who bounce between Philly and CDMX—it’s a historic move for Aeromexico. Philly has been the largest U.S. market without direct service to Mexico City, making this route long overdue. Now, Aeromexico is stepping in to connect the two cities, filling a major gap in the airline’s North American network.

Aeromexico will operate this route daily with a Boeing 737 MAX-8, offering 166 seats with modern amenities like fast Wi-Fi, Bluetooth connectivity, and in-seat charging outlets. The schedule is pretty convenient too:

  • Philadelphia to Mexico City: Departs PHL at 10:02 a.m., arriving in MEX at 12:55 p.m.
  • Mexico City to Philadelphia: Departs MEX at 1:35 p.m., landing in PHL at 8:25 p.m.

This means you can leave Philly in the morning and be sipping a mezcal or grabbing tacos al pastor in Condesa by lunchtime.

What This Means for Travelers

For Philly-based travelers, this flight is a game-changer. No more detours through other hubs—just a direct, hassle-free trip to Mexico’s buzzing capital. Whether you’re heading down for business, checking out Mexico City’s world-class food scene, or just escaping a brutal Northeast winter, this route makes travel between these two cities seamless.

For those of us in Mexico City, this also means easier trips back home to see family and friends in Philly. The late afternoon return flight is perfect—enough time to grab a last-minute torta in CDMX before heading back to the City of Brotherly Love.

Aeromexico and Delta’s Growing Network

This route is part of Aeromexico’s broader expansion in the U.S., in partnership with Delta Air Lines. Along with the new Philly-Mexico City service, Aeromexico is launching another new route from San Luis Potosí (SLP) to Atlanta (ATL) on the same day. This adds to their already massive operation, connecting 26 destinations across Mexico and the U.S. with over 90 daily flights.

They’re also beefing up service to Mexico City from other key cities like Austin and Dallas-Fort Worth, adding second daily flights this summer.

Why This Route Matters

Philly has a growing Mexican community, and this flight is a direct bridge between these two cultures. It also makes Mexico City more accessible than ever for East Coast travelers looking for an international getaway. CDMX offers everything from ancient history to modern luxury, world-renowned food to vibrant nightlife, and now—thanks to Aeromexico—you can get there faster than ever.

Ready to Book?

With daily service and a prime schedule from PHL to MEX direct is set to be a hit. Whether you’re heading south for business, culture, or just a good time, this direct Philly-Mexico City flight makes it all easier. And as someone who has spent years making this trip the hard way, I can’t wait to take advantage of this long-overdue connection. This is also a big deal for people from Mexico City who want to book MEX a PHL as well!
