Springtime in Hong Kong

Spring is the time when the heat, humidity, and heavy rains which characterize summers in Hong Kong begin. The spring season has traditionally run from March to May when temperatures begin at 19 degrees Celsius in the morning and climb as high as 24 degree Celsius during the day. Springtime will give you many clear days, but expect and watch out for very unpredictable weather. You should be especially mindful of fast approaching storms. The quickly developing storms are the main reason why you should always be mindful of the weather when vacationing in Hong Kong. You need to be especially mindful of black rainstorm warnings because they tend to make any kind of outdoor activity impossible. The weather may not be perfect in Hong Kong during spring, but you can still experience the best of Hong Kong’s history and culture by attending art exhibitions, shows, and other events. They are explained further in the events section.

Summer in Hong Kong

The high levels of humidity and threat of frequent rain showers, thunderstorms, and typhoons make the weather unpredictable and can make it unpleasant at times. This is the season for light clothing and powerful sunscreen/sunblock. You carry an umbrella with you at all times if you want to venture outdoors. Since you will be spending most of your time indoors, this is the perfect season for shopping, dining out and enjoying Hong Kong’s Nightlife. Some notable dishes to try are dim sum, lo mai gai, and char siu.
